UPDATES
I realize it has been quite some
time since you all have I. updated
on what has been happening in the
White Buffalos life and since my
beloved Jim passed last year.
Before Jim Passed, Cynthia
Hart-Button, Jim and I had formed a
non-profit organization called
Sacred World Peace church and
Alliance. The buffalo needed to
become a part of a non-profit
organization in which Jim and l had
talked about for so many years.
The buffalo herd is now a part of.
SWPC and Alliance, Cynthia
Hart-Button, Chaplain, president and
co-founder & Dena Riley, Director of
the White Buffalo Sanctuary.
August 2008 Cynthia asked me where I
wanted to move the buffalo and
myself now that Jim we gone. Jim and
I had in talking about moving the
herd for quite some time, due to the
limited space we had for them in
Arizona. Although we researched and
talked about northern California
when Jim was here, I felt Oregon was
where my heart was. Jim's two
daughter and two grandsons lived
there and Jim and I got married and
started our life as one, in Oregon.
September 1, 2008, Cynthia and her
husband Charles, Packed up and move
to Oregon to do the research for
land for the sanctuary| for the
buffalo.
Christmas Eve we received around 10'
of show at Spirit Mountain Ranch on
Hwy 180 in Flagstaff and they had to
close the Hwy. I had to make some
tough desicions at the ranch in
Arizona due to my winter
circumstances (my generator blew up,
my water line in the ceiling froze
and busted in five places, and when.
They thawed the sheet rock fell down
and everything was a mess). The snow
and the mess kept me from opening my
gift shop and doors for people to
come visit the buffalo at the ranch.
In
other words, no income to sustain
ourselves.
On Christmas day I received a call
from Glyn Hayes, a man that had
visited Jim, I and the Buffalo in
the spring of 2004. Once Glyn
realized Jim had passed and my
situation, Glyn was there eleven
days later to help with what ever he
could. I felt very blessed that
creator sent me an angel from
England for the three months he was
allowed.
Thanks to go.. Andy, (a Navajo
friend), and Bob, (a long friend,
since 2000, and now neighbor), the
lines were repaired and the ceiling
was redone and painted to look as
good as new..
I was fortunate we had a small gas
generator we were able to use for
running the fridge,a few lights and
to run the water pump for water.
Another angel that was sent during
this time we Mary” Green Star”
Morris. Mary came up from Sothern
Arizona from time to time to be to
help I well. She cooked, help
clean, she works like a dog when
ever she was needed
.
The harsh winter and ruining the
ranch was not much fun after Jim was
gone.
The winter in Flagstaff 2008-
2009was horrible, but I survived and
made It through, thank to the angels
that creator sent to help.
I was able to get everything except
my two tractors, the buffalo
handling system, all my coral panels
and gates. I can't thank Bob Longest
and Krystl Rose enough for letting
me keep the rest of my belongings on
their land in Arizona until l can
afford to get them to Oregon. They
both met us in 2000 when we lived in
Wyoming where our buffalo journey
began. They have been great friends.
Since the passing of Jim last year,
the journey has been a tough and
long one to say the least.
Once I finally' got to Oregon I
realized why I moved back. It is
simply beautiful. The green grass,
abundance of trees and water, and
the people are GREAT. The people are
for real here in Oregon. They make
you feel like you are home again and
everyone treats you like family.
I didn't take me long after l was
here to get back to the program. I
was finally in Oregon but Cynthia
and I had lots of work to do. By
June I realized the land the buffalo
was on wasn't enough land for them.
The grasses didn't last long,
especially since there was no way
of watering their pasture. The
garden hose had to come done the
hill many 100’s of feet to their
water tank and by the time it
reached the tank there was no
pressure to even put out a sprinkler
on their pasture. WOW what a
disappointments! We now had to start
buying hay and grain once again to
sustain their weight. It was great
to see them with more space once
again, but I had dreamed of them
having green grass to eat a little
longer than two months.
We first let the people of the
community of Applegate know that the
rumor of. “the white buffalo had
moved to So. Oregon” was true. There
was a write up in the local monthly
newspaper called, The Applegator to
let the locals know we were here in
their valley.
We started with the new-age
business, Heart Song, which helped
us find the land and scheduled to
have an introduction about the white
buffalo at their business in order
to raise some money for their feed.
The introduction went well and we
met some wonderful people.
We
also went to another new-age
business in town, Aquarius, and
scheduled an introduction at their
business. The event was very well
done and the people there were very
interested to hear all about the
buffalo now living in their
community.
In
July, I was invited to the Mystic
Garden Party in Ashland to be on
stage with Grandmother Aggie, one of
the 13 indigenous grandmothers to
tell of the white buffalo herd, they
passed a basket around to collect
donations to help feed the buffalo.
It was quite an experience, I would
compare it to a Woodstock type
atmosphere very free spirited peace
loving people, and l felt very
welcomed and truly enjoyed myself
for the two day event, hot springs
and all.
A
beautiful clan mother, Tonya “ White
Deer” was there at the Garden
Party. I had met Tonya a month
before when I just landed in
Applegate, she had came by and saw
the buffalo and then we met again at
a fundraiser for Grandmother Aggie.
Tonya
and the Bear Clan of Medicine Creek
Metis are from Laytonville. Calif.
The
Bear clan has been a great help in
raising funds. They did a raffle on
a beautiful mask to raise money to
buy the grain the buffalo need.
Tonya is a beautiful soul and a
great person. I want to thank them
for all that they have done. We want
to thank the Bear Clan of Medicine
Creek for welcoming the White
Buffalo to the North West.
In
March, and through a local new-age
business in Grants Pass, Oregon,
Cynthia was introduced to a lady
that had 27 acres to gaze the
buffalo and a house nearby to rent
for me and my dogs. The acreage
needed to be fenced and with much
gratitude.
Judith
and Derick Newell, of the Viisions
Life Force Foundation in England
came through with the funding needed
for fencing and the labor.
Roger
Mauldin of Veneta, Oregon and
family, built the fence in 62 hours.
Jack Decker was the foreman on the
ranch and helped with the building
of the fence.
The
females were transported by Dan
Mauldin of Waxahachie. TX and Myself
and were on the land by the middle
of April, by the end of April the
males had arrived.
(Dan
is the man that now has Willy Wonka
and the dark offspring from the
white females) There were many who
helped in the move. There were those
who gave funding and those who gave
their time, enemy and backbone. All
was needed to help in this great
task at hand. I couldn't have done
it without their help.
I want
to thank Geraldine Brolan, her son
Paul, and Sister Lyn Sheldon and the
Viisions Life Force Foundation for
all their support and love they have
given us and the buffalo for the
past years. They have sent money for
the buffalos feed and are truly
great friends and ambassador of the
White Buffalo.
There
were funds given from, Denise
Richards of the Morning Star Lodge.
The Morning Star Lodge is a diverse.
International group of people which
study with Dr. Arwyn “Dream Walker”
Larkin. Dr. Arwyn and her partner
Tree and her many students have been
huge supporters for the buffalo
since they arrived in Arizona in
2001. They have always been there
for us when we needed them. They
have raised money throughout the
many years to help support the
buffalo. They are true ambassadors
and friends of the best kind. May
you all walk in beauty!
Barb
Erickson. a visitor and friend did
prayers and ceremonies for the
safety of the herd and us, he also
gave funds to help with the journey.
Barry is from San Jose. California
and has come to visit and pray with
the buffalo, Jim and Myself for the
past few years. We cherish his
friendship. He bas since recruited
supporters to send money for the
buffalos feed.
A
visitor, who visited the ranch in
2007. Brian Dalsin, of British
Columbia, Canada gave funds to help
the move as well. He called at the
precise moment and helped get us
through the tough part. A kind Gent
indeed!
The
herd had new babies in May. Mandela
Peace Pilgrim gave birth to a baby
boy. Lit'l Black Jack on the 17th of
May and Miracle Moon had a baby
girl, Peace keeper on the 23rd
both are dark babies and doing fine.
It took me seven trips from Arizona
to Southern Oregon. Each round trip
totaled 2,200 miles. I finally made
my last trip the end of June.
Our
ranch in Arizona, in which we had
for sale, unfortunately the
previous owners we were buying it
from, claimed I forfeited the
property when I removed the buffalo
and all my belongings from the land,
thus leaving me without one red
penny.
But I
don't look back I try to always look
forward. I feel very blessed to have
the animals and my belongings and
people that love us that help us
through the tough times.
The events we just what we needed to
help us buy their feed, but at
$55.00 a day to feel the buffalo
tike right nutrition, we felt we
needed to do a bigger event to reach
more of the towns peoples, so we
held a Grails and Hay dance at
Pacifica in Williams just outside of
Grant Pass. We had live music,
through the direction of Charles
Button, Cynthia’s Husband, with
Sacred Mountain Studios a part of
SWPC and Alliance and some of the
local musicians. There were vendors
selling Indian tacos, drinks and
retail garb along will a silent
auction. The night went GREAT and
the people said we should have one
every month, it is just what the
community needed and they had such a
good time.
Well, this is the first time I
designed a. Fence for to buffalo
with out Jim’s help. It has really
put us through the test with males
of one site and females on the other
with barbell wire and electric fence
between the two pastured. So far so
good!! The breeding season is just
about over and it couldn’t end soon
enough for me. They have been real
good, nothing major if fence repairs
the buffalo have always been good
when it comes to fences. Thank God!!
Jack Decker and his wife Wanda have
been here everyday to help me with
the feeding and everything needed to
care for the buffalo. They are the
greatest! I couldn’t do it without
them.
It is now coming fall and coolness
is in the air.
We are thankful we are is Oregon and
hope to find the land to call home,
to share them with the World and to
have a gift shop to help sustain us,
for the remaining of the buffalos
and my life.
But we need your helps!! Got Land?
Money? Hay? Need a tax break?
